IF IT WERE NOT SO....... JOHN 1 - 14

IF IT WERE NOT SO.....
JOHN 1 - 14

One of my favorite sayings in dealing with people in my daily life is this:  "If it were not so, I would have told you."  I stole that line from the most famous Man who ever lived:

"Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in me.  In My Father's house are many rooms; IF IT WERE NOT SO, I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU.  I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.  You know the way to the place where I am going."  Of course, that is Jesus talking to His disciples  John 14: 1 - 4   (NIV)

When you speak, do you tell the truth?  At my age, if I don't tell the truth, I probably will forget the lie I told or who I told it to.  Of course, I have been that way for most of my life.
I was in the midst of my family over the Christmas holiday and I was reminded of how misguided everyday people are.  My Mother used to tell me some of the "latest news" that had no truth in it what-so-ever.  I would ask her where she got her information.  It was usually off some television show.
I have another family member who received a Christmas card from a television personality.  He was talking about it like it made him important.  The problem is that he IS important, but not because he received a card he asked for, a robo-signed card from someone who tries to impress people about how important they are.  He is my family member, which, by association, makes him the most important person in the world.  O.K.  I am joking a little.  He is important TO ME because of who he is, not because he received that card.  I really was not impressed, but it takes a lot to impress me.
Now if you want to talk about impressive people, when Jesus said He was preparing a place for me and He will return for me, that is impressive!

But wait, there's more.  The disciples are confused.  They don't have a copy of the Bible like I do.  They want to know where He is going and how are they supposed to get there.

Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where You are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.  If you really knew Me, you would know My Father as well.  From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him."

Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."

Jesus answered:  Don't you know Me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time?  Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.   How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?  Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me?  The words I say to you are not just My own.  Rather, it is the Father, living in Me, Who is doing His work.  Believe Me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me;  or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.

I tell you the truth, ANYONE WHO HAS FAITH IN ME WILL DO WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING.  HE WILL DO EVEN GREATER THINGS THAN THESE, BECAUSE I AM GOING TO THE FATHER.  AND I WILL DO WHATEVER YOU ASK IN MY NAME, SO THAT THE SON MAY BRING GLORY TO THE FATHER.  YOU MAY ASK ME FOR ANYTHING IN MY NAME, AND I WILL DO IT.  John 14:  5 - 14   (NIV)

Oh, Hallelujah! That is a powerful statement.  Do you believe it?  Do you believe in Jesus?  You can accept Jesus as your Lord today!  Go to our "Pathway to Salvation Page" to learn more.  "If it were not so..."  Click this link:  https://omaswisdom.blogspot.com/p/path-to-salvation.html

WISDOM

WISDOM

Maybe it is time to have a conversation about wisdom.  Wisdom is different from knowledge.  Wisdom is gained with experience and with an active relationship with my God.  Any idiot can read a book or search the internet and gain knowledge.  It is how you apply that knowledge that determines if you have wisdom.
In the mid-seventies, I was under the care of an ob-gyn doctor.  I was pregnant.  This doctor came in and asked me if I wanted to kill my baby.  I asked him if he performed abortions.  He said, "no", but he was mandated by law to offer me that option.  He would have to refer someone else to kill him.  Of course, abortion is not an option for me.  My concern is that I don't want to be under the care of a doctor who believes in killing patients!  If he would kill my baby, he would kill me and/or my parents.  It is really simple:  you respect life and your oath to "do no harm" or you don't.  You can't have it both ways.
Those who believe in abortion won't think twice to destroy you.  Life means nothing to them.  So, when talk show hosts or movie stars or Presidents or any other idiot tries to tell you that we need to re-direct our attention from abortion to some other topic, let me assure you that this topic determines one's "world view".  "DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE SON OF MAN?"  Did your God create life?  Do you want God kicked out of your political party?  Thank you, but I am proud to "cling to my guns and religion"!
I will never again hire any doctor without first knowing where he stands on abortion.  I tell you the truth, if he/she says, "I wouldn't kill my baby...but", that means they have no respect for life.  I will shop around.  I will hire nobody without first knowing their view on abortion, which determines their world view.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE SON OF MAN?

DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE SON OF MAN?

Jesus had healed a man who had been blind from birth.  He had been taken to the Pharisees where he re-counted how Jesus had healed him.  The Pharisees were furious and kicked him out of the synagogue.
Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, "DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE SON OF MAN?"
"Who is he, sir?" the man asked.  "Tell me so that I may believe in him."
Jesus said, "You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you."
Then the man said, "LORD, I BELIEVE," and he worshiped Him.  John 9:35 - 38  (NIV)

LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE COMMENTARY

The man's new faith was severely tested by some of the authorities.  He was cursed and evicted from the synagogue.  Persecution may come when you follow Jesus.  You may lose friends; you may even lose your life.  But no one can ever take away the eternal life that Jesus gives you.
The longer this man experienced his new life through Christ, the more confident he became in the One who had healed him.  He gained not only physical sight but also spiritual sight as he recognized Jesus first as a prophet, then as his Lord.  When you turn to Christ, you begin to see Him differently.  The longer you walk with Him, the better you will understand who He is.

MY THOUGHTS

DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE SON OF MAN?  My personal experiences in life keeps me at His side.  In the 70's, there was a movie that had just come out, "The Exorcist".  At some point, I played around with a ouija board.  My left arm went numb from the elbow down to my fingertips.  It scared the @*? out of me.  That was not my first experience with spirits, but my first with evil spirits.
I have been saved from serious vehicle accidents.  One, was where I was going through an intersection and a vehicle, coming through the intersection  from my right side,  went through the front of my car.  I had my children in the car with me.  We were untouched.  Another was where I ended up in a ditch trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle.  That should have been a head-on wreck.  Both of these incidents were credited to my Lord for saving me and my family.
One time when I only had one child, I had placed him in his walker on the other side of my door as I took a bath.  He could not walk on his own, and he surely could not talk.  I was talking with him to assure myself he was right there when I asked him if he was alright.  He said, "I'll be o.k., Mommy."  Needless to say, that was more than thirty years ago and I still claim that promise from God.

The world was purported to end last month.  If it HAD ended, what would my Lord found you doing?  It is not too late.  The end is coming.  "As long as it is day, we must do the work of Him who sent me.  Night is coming when no one can work."  John 9: 3b-4.  (NIV)
