NOT PROMISED TOMORROW

NOT PROMISED TOMORROW

When you are diagnosed with a terminal condition, the news affects you and everyone around you.  Children mourn, even though you are very much alive.  Treatments have not even been initiated.  Everyone, including you, everyone can look into the future and know the end result.   Whatever!
From the time we are born, we are all dying.  Get over it!  We each have a destination but we each also have a purpose.  Get your eyes off the raging waters of the storm or you will drown.  Refocus your eyes on Jesus and you will walk on the water.
Your heart should not be heavy.  Not everyone has God's grace to be given the advanced notice of their demise.

So, if you have received a terminal diagnosis, all that does is make you aware of your humanity.  It gives you notice that you need to get your affairs in order, instead of being taken off guard.  None of us were meant to live forever in this world.  We are just passing through:

Those of you who are living life with no concern about your home-going, you are the ones we really feel sorry for.  God will demand your life one of these days.  What will you be able to say to Jesus who has sacrificed Himself for you?  Will you be in the position to say, "Thank you", or will you only be able to say, "I'm sorry, Jesus, other things were more important to me while I still lived."?

PARABLE OF THE RICH FOOL

Jesus was speaking, "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.  He thought to himself, 'What shall I do?  I have no place to store my crops.'
"Then he said, 'This is what I'll do:  I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.  And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years.   Take life easy:  eat, drink, and be merry." '
"But God said to him, 'You fool!  This very night your life will be demanded from you.  Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' "
"This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."  Luke 12: 14-21 (NIV)

Money isn't the only thing that is implied here.  If you are living your life as if God doesn't exist, you will come face to face with Him one day when your life is demanded of you.  The good news is that as long as you still breathe, there is hope.  Please, Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart.  Please open the door and let Him into your life.  It is a joyful life, even with a terminal diagnosis.

So, now you know.  It is time to get back to task of living.  Know this:  God is the Great Physician.  Every day of your life is a gift from The Great I Am.  The next life is determined by you.  For learn more about the saving grace of Jesus, please click here:   https://omaswisdom.blogspot.com/p/path-to-salvation.html

NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM DANIEL 2: 14-23

NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM  PART C  DANIEL 2: 14-23

When Arioch, the commander of the king's guard, had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact.  He asked the king's officer, "Why did the king issue such a harsh decree?"  Arioch then explained the matter to Daniel.  At this, Daniel went in to the king and asked for time, so that he might interpret the dream for him.

Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.  He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.  During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision.  Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said:

   "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
         wisdom and power are His.
     He changes times and seasons;
He sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
          and knowledge to the discerning.
He reveals deep and hidden things'
he knows what lies in darkness,
           and light dwells with Him.
     I thank and praise You, O God of my fathers;
You have given me wisdom and power,
You have made known to me what we asked of You,
You have made known to us the dream of the king."

LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE COMMENTARY

Daniel was at a crisis point.  Imagine going to see the powerful, temperamental king who had just angrily ordered your death!  Daniel did not shrink back in fear, however, but CONFIDENTLY BELIEVED God would tell him all the king wanted to know.  When the king gave Daniel time to find the answer,     wait for it        wait for it       DANIEL FOUND HIS THREE FRIENDS AND THEY PRAYED.  When you find yourself in a tight spot, share your needs with trusted friends who also believe in God's power.   Prayer is more effective than panic.  Panic confirms your hopelessness; prayer confirms your hope in God.  Daniel's trust in God saved himself, his three friends, and all the other wise men of Babylon.

After Daniel asked God to reveal Nebuchadnezzar's dream to him, he saw a vision of the dream.  Daniel's prayer was answered.  Before rushing to Arioch with the news, Daniel took time to give God credit for all wisdom and power, thanking God for answering his request.  How do you feel when your prayers are answered?  Excited, surprised, relieved?  There are times when we seek God in prayer and, after having been answered, dash off in our excitement, forgetting to give God credit for the answer.  Match your persistence in prayer with gratitude when your requests are answered.

If you ever think you have much to learn in life, and if you ever wish that you knew more about how to handle people, then look to God for wisdom.  While educational institutions provide diplomas at great expense, God gives wisdom freely to all who ask.

When we see evil leaders who live long and good leaders who die young, we may wonder if God controls world events.  Daniel saw evil rulers with almost limitless power, but Daniel knew and proclaimed that God "sets up kings and deposes them," that He controls everything that happens.  God governs the world according to His purposes.  You may be dismayed when you see evil people prosper, but God is in control.  Let this knowledge give you confidence and peace NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.

MY THOUGHTS

Words are cheap.  Who are the friends you need to seek to pray with you?  Someone who has actually, physically done something for you in the past? Someone in good standing with The Most High God.  That means they have a good working relationship with Him and actively work for The Kingdom.  Not everyone who says they pray for you really does pray, much less prays for you.  They have to be active in their prayer life.  It is hard to find friends who really believe as much as you do.  Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah proclaimed their faith daily in how they actively lived their lives.  It wasn't just a lot of show, not just a lot of words, but it was a lot of substance.

What are your thoughts?  We welcome your comments.  Please indicate if you do not want them published for all to see.  Also, if this ministry is a blessing to you, please pray for us and share this post on your favorite social media.  Thank you.

GOD THE FATHER'S BLOOD

GOD THE FATHER'S BLOOD
In recognition of this year's celebration of Father's Day, I decided to share a revelation I recently learned:  I was watching Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Ministry out of San Antonio, Texas, and heard him  mentioned that when babies are conceived, the blood is provided by the sperm.
I have a bachelor's degree in science.  Anatomy and physiology.  Zygote, embryo, blastocyst, ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm. What did I learn?  I don't recall one time that anyone stated that the blood is provided by the sperm.  Without the sperm, the egg has no blood.  Without blood, there is no life.  Well, where does all that blood come from every month, then?  The short explanation is that it comes from the woman.  I repeat, the egg has no blood for the baby.  It comes from the sperm.
Who cares?  What does it matter?  Jesus was 100% man and 100% God.
We have all heard this throughout the years, believing through faith.  Pastor Hagee's statement was profound.  He explained through science what we have believed through faith:  God donated the sperm that resulted in Mary getting pregnant.  Blood has long been called life.  Blood comes from the sperm.  Mary provided the means of nourishment and a way to discharge waste from the growing embryo.  The baby's blood never mixes with the mother's blood.  Jesus lived through the blood of The Father.
There are so many implications of this knowledge.  One of them, though, is the scientific explanation of The Bible.  Jesus was 100% God and 100% man.  Wow!

You can learn more from M.R. DeHaan, M.D.'s The Chemistry of the Blood.  Just google it.  It is fairly technical but fantastic reading.  I have included a portion of the sermon below.  I pray it will be the blessing to you that it was to me:
LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD

TESTIMONY OF SCIENCE
Now for the sake of some of the skeptics who may doubt these statements let me quote from a few reliable authorities. In Howell’s Textbook of Physiology, Second Edition, pages 885 and 886, I read:
"For the purpose of understanding its general functions it is sufficient to recall that the placenta consists essentially of vascular chorionic papillae from the foetus  (the unborn child) bathed in the large blood spaces of the decidual membrane of the mother. The fetal and maternal blood DO NOT COME INTO ACTUAL CONTACT. THEY ARE SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER by the walls of the fetal blood vessels and the epithelial layers of the chorionic villae."

Or let me quote from Williams’ Practice of Obstetrics, Third Edition, page 133. Here I quote,
"The fetal blood in the vessels of the chorionic villae AT NO TIME GAINS ACCESS TO THE MATERNAL BLOOD in the intervillous space, BEING SEPARATED FROM ONE ANOTHER by the double layer of chorionic epithelium."
And from page 136 of the same recognized textbook I quote,
"Normally there is no communication between the fetal blood and the maternal blood."
Now for the benefit of those of you who may be nurses, let me quote from a textbook which is familiar to you. Quoting from  "Nurse’s Handbook of Obstetrics" by Louise Zabriskie, R.N., Fifth Edition, page 75:
"When the circulation of the blood begins in the embryo, it remains separate and distinct from that of the mother. All food and waste material which are interchanged between the embryo and the mother must pass through the blood vessel walls from one circulation to the other."

And from page 82 of the same book --
"The  foetus receives its nourishment and oxygen from the mothers blood into its own through the medium of the placenta. The fetal heart pumps blood through the arteries of the umbilical cord into the placental vessels, which, looping in and out of the uterine tissue and lying in close contact with the uterine vessels, permit a diffusion, through their walls, of waste products from child to mother and of nourishment and oxygen from mother to child. As has been said, this interchange is effected by the process of osmosis, and there is no direct mingling of the two blood currents. In other words, no maternal blood actually flows to the foetus, nor is there any direct fetal blood flow to the mother."

GOD'S WONDERFUL PROVISION

How wonderfully God prepared for the virgin birth of His Son. When He created woman He made her so that no blood would be able to pass from her to her offspring. That blood is the result of the male. Since Adam was the federal head of the race, it is HIS BLOOD which transmits Adam's Sin. In order to produce a sinless man and yet be the son of Adam, God must provide a way whereby that man would have a human body derived from Adam but have not a drop of Adam's sinful blood.
Right here is the scientific biological reason for the sinlessness of the Man Christ Jesus.
Some have tried to answer the question, “How could He be sinless and yet born of a woman?” by making Mary the “Immaculate Virgin.” That, however, does not answer the question of how JESUS was sinless since it is through the male that the bloodline runs. Not only is this a scientific fact, but it is plainly taught in Scripture that Jesus partook of human flesh without Adam's blood. In Hebrews 2:14 we read,
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood. He also himself likewise took part of the same -- "

You will notice that the children, that is the human children, are said to be partakers of FLESH and BLOOD, and then speaking of Jesus it says that He "himself likewise took part of the same." The Word “took part” as applying to Christ is an entirely different word then “partakers” as applied to the children. In the margin of my Bible, I read the word translated “took part” implies “taking part in something outside one’s self.” The Greek word for partakers is "KOYNONEHO" and means “to share fully,” so that all of Adam’s children share fully in Adam’s flesh and blood. When we read that Jesus “took part of the same” the word is "METECHO" which means to take "part" but not all. The Children take both flesh and blood of Adam but Christ took only part, that is the flesh part, while the blood was the result of supernatural conception.
Jesus was a perfect human being after the flesh. He was of the seed of David according to the flesh, but blood is that part of a man which is the divine addition. In the creation of man, Adam’s body was made from the dust of the earth, but God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Since life is in the blood, this act resulted in the formation of blood in Adam’s body, but the first Adam’s blood was corrupted and sin transmitted through it to all mankind. In the last Adam and the second man, new and divine and sinless blood was produced in a body that was the seed of Adam and by this resulted in the production of —

INCORRUPTIBLE BLOOD

Sin made human blood corruptible. Soon after death, decay sets in, and it begins in the blood. That is why meat must be drained well of its blood. That is why embalmers place the embalming fluid in the blood. David said that Jesus’ body should "see no corruption." Though He was dead three days and three nights, His body did not corrupt. Because He was sinless they could not put Him to death but instead He "laid down His life voluntarily that He might take it up again." He arose by His own power because death had no claim in HIM except the claim of others’ sin, and when that was paid —
"Death cannot keep his prey, Jesus, my Saviour,
He tore the bars away, Jesus, My Lord.
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o'er His foes."
.

DIVINE BLOOD

Conception by the Holy Ghost then was the only way the Virgin Birth could be accomplished. Mary contributed the body of Jesus and He became the "seed of David according to the flesh." The Holy Spirit contributed the Blood of Jesus. It was sinless blood. It was Divine blood. It is Precious Blood for there has never been any other like it. It is —

INNOCENT BLOOD

"I have betrayed the innocent blood" Judas confessed in Matthew 27:4. Our Lord was innocent. He became like unto us in all things — SIN only excepted. Like unto us with ONE EXCEPTION  and that exception was that instead of a human father He was conceived by a DIVINE FATHER. As a result biologically, He had DIVINE BLOOD, SINLESS BLOOD

STEALING FROM YOUR PARENT

STEALING FROM YOUR PARENT
I was in the kitchen the other day with one of the Grand babies.  There were some coins laying on the counter and she proceeded to count the coins.  She added them together and proudly announced how much money was there.  I was busy in the kitchen, so I didn't think any more about her, or the coins.
A day or two later, I noticed the coins were gone.  Now, understand the coins were not going to make or break my vast wealth (tongue in cheek).  The total sum of the coins was just over a dollar.  Like I say, I was busy and wasn't really paying close attention to the amount.  I showed my pride to the child that she could add them together.  That was impressive.
In this house, if the child had asked if she could have the coins, chances are high that I would have said, "yes" without a second thought.  In fact, I would have probably told her that there were more coins in my truck and she could go get them and share with her siblings.  So, if she had asked instead of stealing, she would have probably received more.
Now, here's what I get from the incident:  My Heavenly Father gives me the ability to make money.  His money is laying around on the counter.  He doesn't need that money but He has told me to tithe, to give His money back to Him.  If I take the money off of the counter and put it in my pocket (if I refuse to tithe) then, I am stealing from Him.  If I give it to Him and ask if I can have it back, would I end up with more than if I stole the original amount?  He said to try Him in this and I will receive back more than I can handle.  My God doesn't lie.
Let me put this disclaimer in here:  I don't know what happened to those coins, because I didn't see anyone take them.  I just know they were gone.

What are your thoughts?

"THAT'S MY KING" BY DR. S. M. LOCKRIDGE

"THAT'S MY KING"   BY DR. S.M. LOCKRIDGE
Many of my friends are going through some tough situations:  some are watching their loved ones dying; some are without a job, no financial support; some are battling disease; some are even at the point of being evicted from their homes.  IF you are a child of The One and Only God, here is a word for you from the late pastor Dr. Shadrack Meshack Lockridge, the year this prayer was delivered was 1976.  Justin Taylor posted it on April 9, 2009 at http://thegospelcoalition.org/:  If you don't know Him, today is a good day to give your life to Him.  For more information on that, click here:  'https://omaswisdom.blogspot.com/p/path-to-salvation.html

“My King” – Dr. S.M. Lockridge

My King was born King.
The Bible says He’s a Seven Way King.
He’s the King of the Jews — that’s a racial King.
He’s the King of Israel — that’s a national King.
He’s the King of righteousness.
He’s the King of the ages.
He’s the King of Heaven.
He’s the King of glory.
He’s the King of kings
and He is the Lord of lords.

Now that’s my King. Well I wonder if you know Him.
Do you know Him?

Don’t try to mislead me.
Do you know my King?

David said the Heavens declare the glory of God,
and the firmament showeth His handiwork.
My King is the only one whom there are no means of measure can define His limitless love.
No far seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supplies.
No barriers can hinder Him from pouring out His blessing.

Well, well,
He’s enduringly strong.
He’s entirely sincere.
He’s eternally steadfast.
He’s immortally graceful.
He’s imperially powerful.
He’s impartially merciful.
That’s my King.

He’s God’s Son.
He’s the sinner’s savior.
He’s the centerpiece of civilization.
He stands alone in Himself.
He’s august.
He’s unique.
He’s unparalleled.
He’s unprecedented.
He’s supreme.
He’s pre-eminent

Well, He’s the loftiest idea in literature.
He’s the highest personality in philosophy.
He’s the supreme problem in higher criticism.
He’s the fundamental doctrine of true theology.
He’s the cardinal necessity of spiritual religion.
That’s my King.

He’s the miracle of the age.
He’s the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him.

Well, He’s the only one able to supply all of our needs simultaneously.
He supplies strength for the weak.
He’s available for the tempted and the tried.
He sympathizes and He saves.
He’s strong God and He guides.
He heals the sick.
He cleanses the lepers.
He forgives sinners.
He discharges debtors.
He delivers the captives.
He defends the feeble.
He blesses the young.
He serves the unfortunate.
He regards the aged.
He rewards the diligent and He beautifies the meek.
Do you know Him?

Well, my King is a King of knowledge.
He’s the wellspring of wisdom.
He’s the doorway of deliverance.
He’s the pathway of peace.
He’s the roadway of righteousness.
He’s the highway of holiness.
He’s the gateway of glory.
He’s the Master of the mighty.
He’s the Captain of the conquerors.
He’s the Head of the heroes.
He’s the Leader of the legislators.
He’s the Overseer of the overcomers.
He’s the Governor of governors.
He’s the Prince of princes.
He’s the King of kings and He’s the Lord of lords.

That’s my King. Yeah. Yeah.
That’s my King. My King, yeah.

His office is manifold.
His promise is sure.
His light is matchless.
His goodness is limitless.
His mercy is everlasting.
His love never changes.
His word is enough.
His grace is sufficient.
His reign is righteous.
His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Well. I wish I could describe Him to you,
but He’s indescribable.
He’s indescribable. Yeah!

He’s incomprehensible.
He’s invincible.
He’s irresistible.

I’m trying to tell you,
the heavens of heavens cannot contain Him,
let alone a man explain Him.
You can’t get Him out of your mind.
You can’t get Him off of your hand.
You can’t outlive Him and you can’t live without Him.

Well, Pharisees couldn’t stand Him,
but they found out they couldn’t stop Him.
Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him.
The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree.
Herod couldn’t kill Him.
Death couldn’t handle Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him.

That’s my King. Yeah!

He always has been and He always will be.
I’m talking about He had no predecessor
and He’ll have no successor.
There was nobody before Him
and there’ll be nobody after Him.
You can’t impeach Him
and He’s not gonna resign.
That’s my King! That’s my King!

Thine, Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory.
Well, all the power belongs to my King.
We’re around here talking about black power and white power and green power,
but it’s God’s power. Thine is the power.

Yeah.
And the glory.
We try to get prestige and honor and glory for ourselves,
but the glory is all His. Yes.
Thine is the Kingdom
and the power and the glory,
forever and ever
and ever
and ever.

How long is that?
And ever and ever and ever and ever.
And when you get through with all of the forevers,
then, Amen.

There is a printable version at http://thegospelcoalition.org/.  How powerful is this?  I heard Dr. Ed Young of The Winning Walk actually quote this from memory.

DANIEL 2: 10-17 NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM PART 2 of 3

    DANIEL 2:10-17
NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM  PART 2 of 3

The astrologers answered the king,"There is not a man on earth who can do what the King asks!  No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.  What the King asks is too difficult.  No one can reveal it to the King except the gods, and they do not live among men."

This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon.  So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death.

Daniel 2:10-17 (N(V)

LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE COMMENTARY

The astrologers told the king that only "the gods" could know the dreams of another person.  What the king asked was humanly impossible.  But Daniel could tell what the king had dreamed, and he could also give the interpretation because GOD WAS WORKING THROUGH HIM.  In daily life, we face many apparently impossible situations that would be hopeless if we had to handle them with our limited strength.  But God specializes in working through us to achieve the impossible.

The astrologers said that the gods "do not live among men."  Of course their gods didn't--they didn't didn't live at all!  This exposed the limitations of the astrologers.  They could invent interpretations of dreams but could not tell Nebuchadnezzar what he had dreamed.  Although his request was unreasonable, Nebuchadnezzar was furious when his advisers could not fulfill it.  It was not unusual in these times for astrologers to be in conflict with the king.  They sometimes used their craft to gain political power.

By answering that the gods "do not live among men," the astrologers betrayed their concept of the gods.  Theirs was A HOLLOW RELIGION, a religion of convenience.  They believed in the gods, but that belief made no difference in their conduct.  Today, many people profess to believe in God, but it is also a hollow belief.  In essence, they are practical atheists because they don't listen to Him or do what He says.  Do you believe in God?  He does live among people, and he wants to change your life.

MY THOUGHTS

Pay close attention to this:  Daniel went into the king...  In those days, you asked for an audience with the king and if he was having a bad day, he might just kill you as to look at you.  When "Daniel went into the king", the king was furious.  Daniel must have been able to lie down with lions.  Oh, I guess so.

The other thing is this:  the commentary says that God wants to change your life.  Here's what was omitted from that statement:  God wants to change your life for the better.  Even though the situation seems impossible, with God in charge, where is the worry?  For more information, click here:   https://omaswisdom.blogspot.com/p/path-to-salvation.html.

NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM DANIEL 2: 1-9

NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM  PART 1  DANIEL 2: 1-9

In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep.  So the King summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed.  When they came in and stood before the king, he said to them, "I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means."

Then the astrologers answered the king in Aramaic, "O king, live forever!  Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it."

The king replied to the  astrologers, "This is what I have firmly decided:  If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned into piles of rubble.  But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor.  So tell me the dream and interpret it for me."

Once more they replied, "Let the King tell his servants the dream, and we will interpret it."

Then the king answered, "I am certain that you are trying to gain time, because you realize that this is what I have firmly decided:  If you do not tell me the dream, there is just one penalty for you.  You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change.  So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me."  Daniel 2:1-9 (NIV)

   LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE COMMENTARY

Dreams were considered to be messages from the gods, and the wise men were expected to interpret them.  Usually the wise men could give some sort of interpretation as long as they knew what the dream was about.  This time, however, Nebuchadnezzar demanded to be told the dream also.  God sent a series of dreams to Nebuchadnezzar with prophetic messages that could be revealed and understood only by a servant of God.

The astrologers were unable to persuade the king with any amount of logic or rational argument.  The king asked for something impossible and didn't want anyone to change his mine.  When power goes to a leader's head, whether at work, at home, or in the church, that leader can sometimes begin demanding the impossible from subordinates.

MY THOUGHTS

When faced with outrageous demands on us, what do we have the ability to do?  How can we possibly be expected to accomplish anything that is so far beyond anything anyone can do?  Again, I say, Jesus is the answer to every question.  Do you know Him?  Click here to start your journey with Him:   http://omaswisdom.blogspot.com/p/path-to-salvation.html

Keep in mind, that beginning with verse 4 of Chapter 2, the language switches from Hebrew to Aramaic.  So, now the message is mainly directed to the Gentiles.

What do you think?
