NORWAY SHOOTER'S DAD

SHOOTER'S DAD
By now, most of us have heard about the bombing and shooting in Norway.  I haven't taken the time to get the young man's name down.  What struck me, though, was that his dad, through an interpreter, made the statement that he wished the son would have killed himself.  I know what he did was horrific.  I am not talking to that tonight, but what I am addressing is that his own dad would have said such a thing.
FORMER BOSS
I revisit my past, when I was working in the oil fields in Texas.  It was late 1970's or early 1980's.  One of my boss's sons died in another state.  My boss refused to attend the funeral.  His words dripped in disgust when he spoke of his son.  The son died of AIDS.  I carry that with me to this day that the child's own dad disowned him.  "Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh."
MY FATHER
I am so joyful that My Father has forgiven me for my sins and my transgressions.  How badly I have wounded Him and yet He does not leave me nor forsake me.
MY SON
For the most part, I raised my children without their dad.  My model was to talk to them and live my life as an example of how they were to conduct themselves.  One thing that I told all my children was that I may not always approve of their actions, but I will always love them.  I told them that no matter what they did, they would still be my children and I would still be their mother.  I also used to tell them when they left the house to remember who they were and that what ever they did would reflect back on all of us.  I love my children, each one.  I praise God for His kindness and mercy.

harry potter

Can we take a moment to take a closer look at Harry Potter?  I hear the uninformed constantly saying that the books have a lot of pages and the children are actually reading these books but it takes a dog fight to get them to read books with fewer pages than these.  Reading is good for children.  What is the predominate reason for people to know how to read?  So they don't have to take someone's word as to what is written, of course.  If they know how to read, they can really get to know the Trinity God, not just accept someone's spin on who He is.  Learning Hebrew and Greek and being able to read the original transcripts are ideal.  That said, reading the translations are what most of us do, since we don't know the original languages and don't possess copies of the original transcripts.
Have you ever "played" with a ouija board?  Isn't that fun?  Oh, but wait, that's not the same thing...or is it?  I used the ouija board when I was in my late teens.  I was the only one "playing" it.  My left arm went numb from the elbow to my hand, and my arm moved the piece across the board.  Needless to say, fear engulfed me, because I KNEW at that point that this "game" was connected to evil spirits.  When I had kids, I forbade them from EVER bringing a ouija board into my home, and strongly discouraged them from ever "playing" it.
Likewise, I also forbade them from reading Harry Potter.  The public schools were promoting these books, and I stood my ground.  "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."  We never saw the movies.  Why would you knowingly and willingly expose your family to danger?  Would you give them crack cocaine when they are under your protection?  I hope not.  Likewise, we are instructed to "test the spirits" regarding that we chose to believe.  Too many times, we just go along.  This is not how God, through His disciples and prophets told us to live.
God is real.  My prayer for Believers is that we learn how to put Him first in our lives.  Please reference the first of the ten commandments.

absolute truths

In this life, you find that contrary to current beliefs in this country, there are absolute truths:
1) if the trash piles up for months, roaches, rats, magots and foul odor will come
2) if you place a pot of coffee in the freezer and go back for a cup in 30 minutes, it is cold, not hot
3) the sun rises in the East
4) it requires the union of a man and a woman to produce a baby
It matters not how much you decide these things are not true, these are facts.

Here is another fact:  God is also an absolute truth.  He was.  He is.  He always will be.

If you want to ace the test at school, you put an effort into studying the subject.  If you want to know about God, you have to put the time into reading about Him.  It is well worth your time and investment.  I love the Book of Genesis.  Genesis is the Book of the Beginning.  God establishes the fact that He is involved in our lives here. Repeatedly, He talks about how He was involved in different people's lives.  I personally love the story of Gideon.

In spite of what the heresays say, God created us and He has a plan for each of us.
I praise you, Lord.  Amen!
