REVELATION 22

   1) And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

   2)  In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month:  and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

   3)  And there shall be no more curse:  but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and His servants shall serve Him:

   4)  And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads.

   5) And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light:  and they shall reign for ever and ever.

   6)  And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true:  and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to shew unto His servants the things which must shortly be done.

   7)  Behold, I come quickly:  blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

   8)  And I John saw these things, and heard them.  And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

   9)  Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not:  for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book:  worship God.

   10)  And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book:  for the time is at hand.

   11)  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still:  and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still:  and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still:  and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

   12)  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

   13)  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

   14)  Blessed are they that who wash their robes, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

   15)  For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

COMMENTARY

Verse 1 - 5 recap what we have already studied, but since God repeats it, let us repeat it also:  The materials used to build the new earth and New Jerusalem are pure, which speaks of the character and glory of their divine Creator.  There is no more death, but the water of life and the tree of life are freely given and as we partake of these things, we give testimony of the One Who is the source of life and breath.

The curse given by God back in Genesis (the Garden of Eden) on mankind and on the earth is gone.  Now we shall see His face and His name shall be in our fore-heads------we will carry His name and be joint-heirs with Him of the entire creation.

There is no more night; but God will be our source of light and life.  He is the source of life today, but rarely does He receive the recognition for it.

Chapter 6: It is important to understand that the same God Who wrote the Old Testament through the prophets is the same God Who now is writing this book of prophecy through the Apostle John.

Verse 7:  For all who read this Book of Revelation, believes it, and holds fast to the words of it,  divine blessing is promised by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Verse 8, 9:  John testifies that he is an eye-witness of all he wrote in this Book.  Once again, John is rebuffed when he tried to worship the angel.  My God is a jealous God.  We are to worship only Him....not angels, dead people, images, beads, etc.  We are to worship Him in spirit, as He is spirit.

Verse 10:  The words of the book of Revelation are to be guarded and unsealed, read and believed; not the thought of it, or the interpretation.  There are many interpretations of it.  I have even been told by people that I know that there is no point in reading Revelation because we were not meant to understand it.  To that I say, "Then why is it named, 'Revelation'?"  Why would God bother to have any of His Holy Bible written down for us if we are not to understand it?

Verse 11:  This is apparently God Himself Who is speaking here and in the preceding verse.  Also, let me explain that the "holy" are those who are sanctified in both heart and life, consecrated to the will of God by the Holy Spirit.

Verse 12, 13:` Again, these are points God is stressing.

Verse 14:  The final blessing is given for us who wash our robes (this speaks of cleansing of sin which accompanies salvation).  I am looking forward to entering in to His presence through the gates of the city.  Keep in mind that our inward faith cannot be seen outwardly but that we keep His commandments.  I have to add that our works does not save us; we are only saved by the grace of God.  Our walk is the evidence of our faith.

Verse 15:  In ancient Israel, the term "dog" was used for sodomites and prostitutes related to temple worship of the pagans.  In fact, sorcery (or the use of pharmaceuticals) is usually associated with sexual sins and idolatry.  If only I could get you to understand that pharmaceuticals are directly related to Satan.  Listen to the disclaimers in the commercials.  If you have this disease, don't use the product; some of the side effects are such and such.  Even the commercials tell you that the drug may be worse than the disease it is meant to treat!  And just forget about street drugs:  the hallucinations, vomiting, hang overs, flash backs, lack of inhibitions, no sleeping for days, etc.....totally Satan!

So, how about you?  What have you decided about Jesus:  love Him or reject Him?  Doing nothing with Him is rejecting Him.  Time is short.  You make your choice today.  To learn more about how to accept Him, please click here:  https://omaswisdom.blogspot.com/p/path-to-salvation.html.
